Friendship Village Resident still Painting at 100 Years Young

fv_janetebyphotocrop2

Janet Eby is not your typical 100 year old senior. Janet Stuffer Eby will turn 100 on January 23 and is being featured this month on the “Wall of Fame” at Friendship Village for her Painting talents. Janet has been painting for 70 years and says all of her family members have her paintings covering the walls of their homes. They love her work and appreciate her talents. She participated in the art and jazz festival at Friendship Village featuring some of her holiday paintings.

She is not sure how many paintings she has completed but she is estimating in the hundreds. She not only paints on canvas but has painted on slate, milk cans and wears many beautiful tops she has painted on material.

Janet lives in Independent Living at Friendship Village and rarely misses any events. She is an active senior and always busy. You will usually find her name in the Village Crier newsletter for winning at Bridge.

Janet’s family is well known in the north Dayton area. The Stuffers built the first swimming pool in the area called the Trotwood Aquatic Club. They also built one of the first plats that included a Doctors office. Her brother was Dr. Stauffer. Janet took over her husbands insurance business in the 1950’s and was the first local female licensed insurance agent. She was proud of that and proud of her pink brief case.

Janet was also active in the Eastern Star, Trotwood Mother’s Study Club, Trotwood Garden Club and the Dayton Soroptimist. Janet was married to the late Donald Eby and they have 4 children and 10 grand children, 10 great grand children and 3 great great grandchildren.

If you ask Janet about longevity, she will tell you to stay positive and don’t complain.
